UAE TRN format checker
Free UAE TRN format checker: 15 digits, starts with 1, ends with 03, and see the 10-digit TIN. Format only; confirm registration with the FTA.
How it’s calculated
Clean the input. Spaces, dashes and dots are removed, and Arabic-Indic digits are converted, so “100-1234-5678-9003” is read as 15 digits.
Check the structure. A VAT TRN is exactly 15 digits, starts with 1 and ends with 03. These are the rules accredited service providers enforce on e-invoices.
Derive the TIN. The first 10 digits are the Tax Identification Number (TIN), which is your Peppol participant ID for e-invoicing.
Legal basis
PINT-AE 1.0.4 ibr-132-ae: A TRN must be 15 digits, starting with 1 and ending with 03. UAE legislation itself publishes no TRN structure.
PINT-AE 1.0.4 ibr-148-ae; MoF Mandatory Fields v1.0: The TIN is the first 10 digits of the TRN, in the form 1XXXXXXXXX.
VAT Law Art 54(bis): From 1 Jan 2026 the FTA may refuse input VAT recovery where you should have known a supply was part of evasion, for example by not verifying the supplier. Checking supplier TRNs is part of that diligence.
Before you rely on it
This checks the format only. It cannot tell you whether a TRN is registered, active or belongs to the business named on the invoice. Use the FTA’s TRN verification service for that.
The FTA publishes no checksum for TRNs, so none is applied here.
What is a TRN?
The Tax Registration Number the FTA issues on VAT registration. It must appear on every tax invoice, for both supplier and (if registered) customer.
Does a valid format mean the TRN is real?
No. A well-formed number can still be unregistered, cancelled or someone else’s. Always confirm on the FTA’s TRN verification service before you claim input VAT on a large bill.
What is the difference between a TRN and a TIN?
The TIN is the first 10 digits of the TRN. It identifies the person for e-invoicing (Peppol scheme 0235), while the 15-digit TRN identifies the VAT registration.
Is the number I type sent anywhere?
No. The check runs entirely in your browser.
